The price of my toilet paper has inflated 10% in a year!

Actually 10.15%

I should have bought toilet paper last year rather than mutual funds.

Another brand that I used to buy has appreciated a whopping 13.61%.

I'm shoring up my TP reserves.

Ponce is a past member who coined the phrase: "If you don't hold it, you don't own it."

Butt ribbon is nice, but in a pinch, the Sears catalog works well....

Costco's price on their toilet paper went up in the last 6-8 months by like 3-4 bucks.

The last time I went and indebted myself I paid 17.99 for a 36 roll pack.

TYPO I paid 80.00 for 4 of the 36 roll packs.

What??? One 36 roll pack?

My 48-roll packs of basic 500 sheet 2-ply now run me $40.79. I guess I have nothing to complain about.

Are you sure that number is correct? What brand is that?

Believe it or not, but the owner of our company insisted on an in-service during our safety meetings, on the proper use of toliet paper. Some of the Mexican employees thought that they should throw their used TP on the floor, instead of flushing it. We even put wastebaskets in the stalls, didn't help much.

No way. I just bought a 36 roll pack at Costco and it was nowhere near $80. More like $18.

I'm with Conk. I will however support the notion that TP usage has at least gone up 10% over the past year. Peak TP is right around the corner.

I'm currently working with an alternative-TP resource group. We've tried lots of things and had a brilliant breakthrough but the guy with all the specs apparently commited suicide. We haven't been able to locate any of his papers and the whole project is going down the toilet.

Re: The price of my toilet paper has inflated 10% in a year!

Sorry I erred it was nearly 80 for 4 36 roll packs.

I was looking at the total on the receipt and not the individual item price.

The vampiric and gluttonous feeding frenzy currently being enjoyed by the federal government under the pretext of climate change is set to be expanded with a range of new taxes on products disposed of via waste water, including cosmetics, toothpaste and toilet paper.
The “Water Protection and Reinvestment Act,” H.R.3202, introduced last week by Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore), will be “financed broadly by small fees on such things as bottled beverages, products disposed of in wastewater, corporate profits, and the pharmaceutical industry,” according to Blumenauer’s fact sheet.

This is demand pull inflation. The government is dishing out so much MOPE crap these days, there just isn't enough TP to go around. Those in stocks can take this as a sign... ear plug futures are about to snap back into an upward trend.

Disclosure: Heavily invested in TP, minor ear plug holdings, all physical.

The Sears Catalog was a standard item in outhouses in the '40's, especially farm families. No big deal, my Dad said - we have talked about this type of lifestyle often. They didn't think they were "poor".

i love a good toilet paper conversation.

i used to always wait till they were on sale at the rate of 25 cents a roll, double ply. that was maybe 4 years ago.

now my 'price target' is 50 cents a roll, i give up trying to find a lower price.

i did find 1000 sheets of single ply recycled for about 33 cents a roll.

and the cheapest toilet paper of all - a Safeway checker told me this - is you take pages out of old books and use that paper. he said that was the method he was raised with.

So you don't have gravity in your neck of the woods? You have to pump water down hill? Interesting. See, we put things like cisterns on roofs so that they can fill up with rain water, interrupting the rain on it's trip from cloud to ground. Then, when you do things like flush, or shower, gravity (y'know, that thing that makes the rain fall outta the clouds) pulls down on the water in the cistern, pulls it down through these things called pipes .. all the way to where I want it. Then I let the water go into more pipes so that it can complete it's journey down to ground level. Actually, it even gets to go a bit lower than that, as a bit of a thanks for having delayed it's trip, y'know.

As do I...

It amazes me that folks are so afraid of discussing one of the two most daily events that humans engage...

Out of necessity of course. The first being the most discussed and written about, eating...

But we have a long pipe thru the system, and what enters as nutrition, the ruffage (un-use-able portion) of that nutrition must exit the system.

Shit happens...

Every day for most humans well fed...

Why are we so afraid to talk about our excrement?

and the cheapest toilet paper of all - a Safeway checker told me this - is you take pages out of old books and use that paper. he said that was the method he was raised with.

I remember an old story about the arabs in the desert, with no spare leaves hanging around, and no toilet paper or spare water.

They used one hand for intake, and the other hand for outflow cleaning.

Survival is about understanding the importance of both intake and exhaust.

BTW, Here is a cartoon that I like...
